Might take some time to move my embedded target & stuff on it to 2.5
but I will try it tomorrow and let you know the results.

Another option -- though it may not work on kernels older than 2.4.21 without tweaks, and might have its own quirks -- would be to try the 2.4 "ohci-hcd" backport I posted a while back, it's in list archives. Sometimes 2.5 isn't a quick port, but you do seem to be on x86 so it should be.

Nothing sounds like an OHCI problem, although I seem to recall
various ns-geode problems reported in the past.  If there were
an OHCI problem (vs a PWC problem), the "ohci-hcd" code might
well have some improvements already lurking.
