There are two drivers for quickcam there, older qce-ga and mostly rewritten
qc-usb.
If it was qc-usb, I'd be happy, since it's me who has mostly written it :-)
(of course, authors of qce-ga play also very important role...)

No... I haven't ever seen the USB error you mentioned ("babble...").
However, I often get other message that has similar effect ("USB hub
disconnected (EMI?), reconnecting." I heard it might be caused by power
overload, but don't know. Maybe. For this problem there's workaround in
qc-usb.
