Most likely is a difference in the way I/O and IRQ signals are handled. At this point I think we've almost exhausted the possibilities at the level of the USB controller drivers; the answer probably lies somewhere else. The one thing still worth checking is the initialization code in uhci-hcd.c. Can you find any significant differences (such as reordering the statements) between the 2.6.5 and 2.6.6 versions of the uhci_reset() routine?
