I take it back, Marcelo hasn't taken it. It's only available in RHEL 3 U2. I'll resend it today or tomorrow. Sorry for the confusion.

Please post the patch here first so we can look at it.

You suggested a workaround to this a few months ago, but it was not
the correct solution.   I hope that is not the patch you are suggesting.

That patch did not solve the problem and risked out of order writes.
The correct solution is to remove the semaphore in usbserial in some
places and have the low level serial drivers do any locking they need
themselves.  This is what is done in 2.6.
