I don't know what's causing this problem.  Maybe it has been fixed in 
2.6.8-rc4.

This is a known bug.  It happens sometimes when you rmmod one of the USB
host controller drivers while devices are plugged in and in use by usbfs.  
To avoid this bug, either don't rmmod ohci_hcd or else stop all processes 
using a USB device first.
