Maybe, but certainly you'd need some very recent patches.

Because of some strangeness in the descriptors (i.e. it is not a "standard
mouse").

This line means that the hid driver isn't picking up your device.
I don't have one of these, but you might try upgrading to a 2.4.4 kernel, and
then applying Vojtech's latest patches, see:

You should also turn on the debugging options in the various hid elements
(especially hid.c) as well.
