When I sent that message I realized I should have specified which
version. I'm using Gphoto 0.4.3. I have the dc2xx driver already
loaded. It seems to work from this:
Jun 27 23:12:00 sri kernel: hub.c: USB new device connect on bus1/2,
assigned device number 4
Jun 27 23:12:00 sri kernel: Manufacturer: Eastman Kodak Company
Jun 27 23:12:00 sri kernel: Product: KODAK DC3400 ZOOM Digital Camera
Jun 27 23:12:00 sri kernel: dc2xx.c: USB Camera #0 connected,
major/minor 180/80Jun 27 23:12:01 sri /sbin/hotplug: arguments (usb) env
(PWD=/etc/hotplug HOSTNAME=sri.bharat.net DEVICE=/proc/bus/usb/001/004
INTERFACE=255/0/0 ACTION=add DEBUG=kernel
MACHTYPE=i586-mandrake-linux-gnu OLDPWD=/ DEVFS=/proc/bus/usb TYPE=0/0/0
SHLVL=1 SHELL=/bin/bash HOSTTYPE=i586 OSTYPE=linux-gnu HOME=/ TERM=dumb
PATH=/bin:/sbin:/usr/sbin:/usr/bin PRODUCT=40a/132/100 _=/usr/bin/env)
You're comment regarding adding hte dc3400 ID's is interesting. Because
that might explain this:
Jun 27 23:12:01 sri /sbin/hotplug: invoke /etc/hotplug/usb.agent ()
Jun 27 23:12:01 sri /etc/hotplug/usb.agent: ... no drivers for USB
product 40a/132/100
How do I manage to put the ids in? If you look at my original mail
you'll see that I've printed out the devices file while the camera is
ocnnected. So definitely the dc2xx module is being loaded.
As for the usbdev stuff. That seems to work as well: Catting the
/proc/bus/usb/drivers:
[root@sri usb]# cat drivers

hub
and drivers:
[root@sri usb]# cat devices
