One thing I can try to add to the foregoing discussion is a clarification of
the switch's function. It emulates a keyboard and mouse, passing along
activity generated from the physical devices to the selected host computer.
At the same time, it maintains the illusion of a connected kbd/mouse for the
non-selected computers.

In other words, as I switch from one computer to another, the 'losing'
computer does not see a disconnect of the kbd/mouse, and the 'winning'
computer does not see a new connect happen.

It works fine with other OS's, even for FPS games and precision Photoshop
mousing. But under Linux things break down.
