Hi Patrick,
I already have that in my XF86Config-4. That works when I plug in a USB mouse directly. But now when I plug in the Composite PS2 USB adapter and connect the ps/2 mouse and keyboard.

Does anyone know what the hid-input, hiddev and hid-core modules are for and if I need any of those to get the mouse to work ?

The above makes me think your mouse is actually recognized by linux, the driver loaded, and everything is ready to go.... perhaps your X configuration is the issue?

I believe your XF86Config-4 file should include something along these
lines for a usb mouse:

Section "InputDevice"
         Identifier "Generic Mouse"
         Driver "mouse"
         Option "SendCoreEvents" "true"
         Option "Device" "/dev/input/mice"
         Option "Protocol" "ImPS/2"
         Option "ZAxisMapping" "4 5"
EndSection

Good luck.
