It _should_ be loaded automatically. Do you use hotplug? I don't see any

The first scsi disk (like these readers are) will be /dev/sda and
generally there is only one partition and it is the first on memory
devices, so you would mount /dev/sda1.

You should see a message from your kernel telling you it found sda. As I
didn't see that I had assumed you don't have sd_mod loaded. You also need
SCSI Generic support but that is usually in the kernel, you might want to
check.
