Hi. I am also new on this list. I have a Sharp Zaurus 5500 tool,
and have it working with Debian and a 2.4.22 kernel.
> >Nov 21 16:21:59 kjc386 /etc/hotplug/usb.agent: Setup acm CDCEther usbnet
> >for USB product 4dd/8004/0
This is odd, I only get "usbnet for USB product 4dd/8004/0"
Then you get:
> >Nov 21 16:22:00 kjc386 /etc/hotplug/usb.agent: ... no modules for USB
> >product 4dd/8004/0
I have found a problem with the 2.4.22 version of usbnet and at least
this unit and hotplug. (This is why I am on this list, discussing how
to best fix it).
The short version is that the usbnet module sets some bits to test
the interface settings for this device, but they get blocked. A quick
fix is to edit /lib/modules/2.4.**/modules.usbmap. Change the line
with:
usbnet 0x0383 0x04dd 0x8004 ...
to
usbnet 0x0003 0x04dd 0x8004 ...
Note that this file gets rebuilt if you install new kernel modules.
Stay tuned here for a better long term fix.
I also suggest that you look at this file, and see if there are other lines
for this device.
