No biggie. I'm not in a big hurry. Dual-boot is nice -- I'm still running RH8 most of the time. > My fix under FC2 was to use the vanilla 2.6.8 and 2.6.8.1 kernel > (ftp.kernel.org). Well, that's helpful, in terms of pointing to either the newer kernel, or FC-only patches. It also suggest that maybe bringing this up to the Fedora community would be the thing to do. > Additonally, you might want to try to put a serial protocol analyzer > between the usbserial device and the modem if you got a spare machine > with 2 serial ports supporting Hardware Flow Control. I don't even know where I might borrow one. The occasions on which I think I need a breakout box are pretty rare. In fact, the last time I wanted one was over a year ago, and I wound up solving the problem by other means. I'm still of the opinion that if I can just discover the proper debugging switches to put into place, that this is solvable using software debugging, without resorting to trying multiple kernels to see what works and what doesn't. Add in the myriad possible combinations of patches, and this quickly becomes a unworkable.
