Thanks for posting the patch. Now it's available in the email archives for anyone who wants to try it out. At first glance it looks okay to me. I doubt that it will get accepted into the official 2.4 kernel, because development on the 2.4 series is pretty much into "bug-fix and nothing else" mode. But if you want to try, you can submit the patch to Pete Zaitcev.
