First: You should ask the Mandrake support people.  They will be able to
give better answers to your questions.

Second: It sounds like you don't have the kernel-source package installed.  
You can't do anything without that.

Third: In "/usr/src/linux-version", the "version" is meant to stand 
for the actual version of Linux that you have.  So you should be using 
"/usr/src/linux-2.6.8.1-12" or something like that.
