Hi all,
just one thing about Compaq which we might need to bear in mind
....they are supposed to been merged/bought/whatever by HP....& are now
in the process of making that actually happen.....anybody have any
experiences with HP & linux ?

Compaq laptops have one advantage: they come with a worldwide Compaq
guarantee (desktops do not). This is an advantage for frequent
travellers, and is something local suppliers can't offer.
As for the MS tax, the blame is with Compaq, who don't offer a box
without OS, not with Microsoft. Why should Billy offer a refund when
Compaq doesn't bother to offer their stuff without Billyware?
Now I *did* say ditch Compaq, didn't I?
