I've tried running linux on quite a number of platforms (HP, Compaq, IBM
etc etc) and i have to say, nothing beats DIY. Grab a decent
motherboard (Aopen, ABIT, etc etc), chuck in a decent video card, lotsa
nice memory, tweak the BIOS (frequencies, voltages, timings, you *can*
with a proper motherboard) and you'll have an computer that is *several*
times faster.
