Nothing special by modern standards..

It's a BTC 321040 IDE drive, using the sg module on an Athlon 1.4 with 512Mb
of ram.

Under windows it's win98se, and the supplied software (name escapes me) and
under linux it's RH7.1 stock install and xcdroast that shipped with it...

I've also used it to write 100 copies of a manual under RH7.2 on a Duron 900
with 256Mb and it ran fine at 24x, didn't try 32x on that machine.  I was
only writing 60Mb per CD so the time wasn't an issue.  Took longer to
unwrap, label and repack the CD's than it did to burn them.
