no, i require that the xterm has an exact size of 80x24, 
and my browser windows have a size of 800x600.
non-overlapping windows won't give me that, 
because ion will resize windows to make them fit.

besides all those xterms won't survive X restarts or remote
reconnections.

screen is just better.

for X something like xmove makes more sense,
it creates a proxy X server, and can move running windows from one
X server to another, thus possibly survive X restarts.

unfortunately xmove is old, unmaintained and has lots of bugs...
