I'm using Enlightenment. When I first tried Gnome I thought it looked ugly. KDE is prettier but seems far too Windows-like. Then I tried E and liked its uncluttered approach (even at 1600x1200). There are some things I don't like about it but they're pretty minor.
KDE and Gnome apps work in E quite happily. The only real frustration was that the script to import the KDE application menus into E did not work, so I had to do that the hard way. I've had the E Aqua theme for a while, and the other day I themed KDE, Gnome and Mozilla with Aqua-like themes so now all my apps look relatively consistent. Having said all that, I only use X for software development at the moment. One of these days I'll get my hands on an Apple box and that will be my "one true desktop".
