I second everything Martin says about large buttons. I admit it - I'm not the most co-ordinated person.
I'm getting very quick at [Alt]+[Ctrl]+[F1] for things that a gui is too clueless for (pun intended). I find switching VTs quicker than clicking on a xterm shortcut. To me any gui will do though. As long as Apps have: [File] [Edit] [Format] etc somewhere along the top I can use any app. I'm usually using a wordprocessor or spreadsheet rather than using the desktop environment itself. Ask a non-techie what they're running on their computer and they'll probably say "MS Office" or something, not realising that you, as a geek, actually mean "What _OS_ are you running".
