I have an Asus 48 speed writer...a couple of months old. I burn at 48X and haven't had any problems yet (~20 cds). I also burn at 48X at uni on my pc there...again no problems yet (~20 cds as well). I am using probably the cheapest cds out there (40cents per cd) :).
