I have a problem with my PC too since I recently ran etc-update
(Gentoo).

At start-up I see heaps of lines flashing past saying
modprobe: can't locate module /dev/ttySxx

In my terminal program I get bash-2.05b$ where I used to get (I think)
[EMAIL PROTECTED]

I also have not been able to compile on this machine using distcc on
another so I would like to see what I am doing wrong there as well.

I could bring it tonight I it could fit in.
