[ winmodem stuff ]
I got an external modem with my recent computer purchase. It was only an extra $30 and worth every cent if you ask me. I have a winmodem that never really worked - as soon as the CPU did something demanding (like, say, render a webpage) it dropped the connection. This was a pII 266 though. I had to use my 28.8K ISA modem instead.
Perhaps I'll bring the winmodem tonight along with my other bits of hardware - somebody might swap something for it. I've also got an external modem which I suspect might by 14.4K - good enough for faxing, and an ISA network card. Will swap for CD-Rs maybe.
