I'll note this since I'm gonna try getting Rosegarden running for
the MIDI/recording side of things (I'm a Philistine who cannot
read music!)...

No, success eludes! I've now got source RPM, RPM, tarred
source, tarred binaries, of Iscan, and still it will not
compile, run, or pretty much anything. I searched the forum
archives at epson-kowa's website from a year ago, til now, and
all I could see is that many users of all-kinds of new distros
(RH9.0, MDK9.1, Deb Woody etc...) have trouble related to this
scanner (and also the 1250 Perfection). I might get a different
scanner, and use Xsane/sane, but quality is paramount (I got
an Epson primarily because Epson provided Iscan for Linux people,
whereas AFAIK other scanner manufacturers have only provided scant
developer docs, if anything at all, for their scanners).

I can happily install missing 'bits' to keep the ./configure
happy, but fixing files to make gcc co-operate is well and
truly beyond me, so compiling is no-go (compiling iscan will
last about 5 seconds, before abort due to major errors)...

Kind regards,

Chris Wilkinson, Christchurch.
