On my athlon 1133 with 512MB RAM dvd::rip is telling me it wants to take about 6 hours to turn the ripped 1.5 hour dvd into svcd format (size of two cd's).
Is this typical? It seems to be transcoding at aout 6 fps. It seems so slow. There is not much else going on on the box.
