it gives out the dns automatically when you log in too :-)

no isp wil say it "supports" linux. most of them will send you a cd with
the microsoft dialler and their own branded web browser. They will tell
you which buttons to press on windows to get connected.

However there isn't usually a problem getting a ppp connection,
particularly if you use wvdial.
