Hi,
I am trying to work out how to install another OS on my system - namely RH (either 7 or 8). Most books seem to work with that and I wanted to work through a book or two. I have been mostly just playing try and see up until now and it is getting a bit tedious... I have fstab currently as:
/dev/hda3 / ext3 defaults 1 1
/dev/hda2 /boot ext3 defaults 1 2
none /dev/pts devpts mode=0620 0 0
none /mnt/cdrom supermount dev=/dev/hdc,fs=auto,ro,--,iocharset=iso8859-15,codepage=850,umask=0 0 0
none /mnt/cdrom2 supermount dev=/dev/scd0,fs=auto,ro,--,iocharset=iso8859-15,codepage=850,umask=0 0 0
/dev/hda6 /mnt/f vfat iocharset=iso8859-15,codepage=850,umask=0 0 0
none /mnt/floppy supermount dev=/dev/fd0,fs=auto,--,iocharset=iso8859-15,sync,codepage=850,umask=0 0 0
/dev/hda1 /mnt/win_c ntfs iocharset=iso8859-15,ro,umask=0 0 0
none /proc proc defaults 0 0
/dev/hda5 swap swap defaults 0 0

I don't know whether it's visible from that but I have 4 primary partitions with 3 (?) virtual partitions in the last. I had another 32 gig in fat32, but got rid of it to try and make space for a new partition for RH. The install disk just won't let me install on the new partition, or even make the new partition. In HardDrake (running Mandrake 9.1 and xp) I can create new partitions, but they won't format - most annoying. The RH installer seems to be saying that it will only install on / anyway, which means I would have to get rid of my Mandrake (or would I)? The idea is to have all three possible to boot into (MDK, RH, and XP). Is this possible, and if so, any pointers on how to do it?
Cheers
Anton
