I think you're forgetting the immense amount of work that went into
scalability and 'big iron' performance.

But really, people, it's easy to decide if you should be using 2.6 on
your desktop or server.  If you're worried about stability at all, don't
use 2.6 yet.  If you have to ask "should I be doing this?", the answer
is no.
