The CR51 does use the RTL based NIC's. There is a dybalink 1Gb card (DGE
530T I think .. I can look it up if you want )which comes with a low profile
adapter for about $70ish. I am using it with linux (RH9) in a CR51 so that
means I have two nics running.

There is another option called the cubefor around $440 + GST which may have
the extra slot available

What are you going to use this for? A switch, firewall, router?   If you are
just switching wouldn't spending $400 on a 8 port 1Gb switch make more
sense? You could then put a small box between it and the net for firewalling
etc.
