At home I almost exclusively use Linux - only the very occasional game or testing of hardware will get me booting WinXP.
Distro - Gentoo, kernel 2.6.3 on my laptop & 2.4.xx on my less used workstation Desktop - fluxbox, lots of custom keys. 1024x768 on my laptop is precious real-estate that overblown taskbars & window boarders hog. Mostly used for: - web browsing, email (Mozilla 1.6) - C/C++ development (QT designer, Kdevelop, Anjuta, vim - depending on mood & need) - Python (just learning, so mostly vim) - Photo storage from my Canon A20 camera - Gimp, abiword, openoffice. - Xine & Mplayer for DVDs, VCDs, etc (TV out works well) - Emelfm for filemanagement I am very impressed with 2.6.xx, everything for my laptop works really well.
