...and now I've thrown Mandrake 9.2 disks in the bin because for some reason (again) KDE has no screensavers and no control center, despite grpmi showing they are installed...
Mandrake 9.1 has been reinstalled on my machine now, and everything works again. I don't know what they did with 9.2 but it is buggy as on my system...
