Thats the subjective part, but i can say that my 8 year old has been
having fun, a lot of fun, with lego robotics for 2 or 3 years now. it
does capture the kids imagination, kids love bright colours and the
modular thing. Each to his own.

errr his dad has fun with it too :-)
