[EMAIL PROTECTED] rik $ uname -s Linux [EMAIL PROTECTED] rik $ uname -o GNU/Linux
Which only proves that the uname command on your system is a FSF/GNU project program. The FreeBSD uname does not have the "-o" option, because the FreeBSD uname author doesn't feel the need to define an "operating system" in the same manner that GNU does.
It does *not* show that your favourite distribution thinks that it itself is "GNU/Linux", only that it has chosen to use the GNU project 'uname' command.
