I've got a load of software wot I wrote that gets metar info and decodes it into a Mysql database, if that's any use. chch info is available ( from the usa! ) at about 30 minutes old, updated every 30 minutes.

I looked into the weather station stuff a few months ago, and you're looking as 250+ for anything even approaching useful.

What I'd like to find out more about is... there's a weather station on the top of Mt Herbert, which seems to communicate over the radio waves. Now, can we hijack those signals? With any luck you should be in line of sight!
