lets get this right?

you are subscribed to a yahoo email group and when you read their html
mail it wants a net connection to load an advert (or something) or to
send a cookie (or something)?

if that is the problem then I think there is an option to subscribe text
only. i am a member of a yahoo mailing list and the mail comes as text
only. 

try getting rid of the html option.
