Ok we're up to 25 emails on an off-topic post in one day.  is this
necessary correspondence with regards to linux?  Considering people
always go on about people with easily googleable questions clogging up
the list, it's probably safe to say that most of these messages aren't
really neccesary either.

I don't want to sound grumpy, but I have also noticed a number of 
non-useful posts.  Things like one-line e-mails consisting of
"emerging now..." probably don't need to be emailed to the whole list
(to pick on one example)
