Sounds good... :) So it can be done! Great! It is a lot moe to put kde on the system though... (resources wise). Managed to get Ubuntu going again (without full format)... using "linux noapic nolapic"...
Good. How about carefully thinking about *WHY* you want KDE? And trying to use Gnome instead.

Having said that, i have developed a bit of a liking for gnome...funny what you get used to when forced!
If you want to use a specific KDE application, like Kate or K3B, all you have to do with Ubuntu is to enable the 'universe' repository, and then install *just that one program* - the minimum set of required support programs will be installed for you. "sudo aptitude install kate", for example.
Of course, before you attempt to download new software from the Internet, you must be connected to your ISP.
