Well good and bad news. With the downloaded SecurityPolicy file in place
startx starts up and the background stays on screen for about 2 seconds now
(100% improvement). There is no error message at the end of the run regarding the SecurityPolicy
file so the file is clearly being found OK and the script is being read but at the end of each line from 50-88 the response is
"Line XX of /usr/X11R6/lib/X11/SecurityPolicy invalid ignoring"
I don't know about lines 1-49 but I would guess its the same. I re-downloaded the file and replaced it but the results are the same.
I was unable to find a log file created by X-11 server.
In /var/log there is "syslog" which has no information about X-Free.
