Thanks Steve, Dale and Trevor,

Putting all this together, the Vhost containers are starting to look a
little fuller than those given in the Apache examples in the
documentation. I thought they looked a little sparse for what they have
to do.

Steve,

The domains A, B and C were just examples for clear labelling but I take
your point and have checked that the real domains are all in lower case.

The document root was on a different partition F: because whilst
battling with all this, I was having to run on Win2K+IIS which had to
access the pages. Not ideal I know, but all document folders are also
copied into /htdocs ready for when I get back on Apache.

So the following directives need to be in the VH containers as well as
the main server?

ServerSignature email
DirectoryIndex index.php index.html index.htm index.shtml
LogLevel warn
HostNameLookups off

Thanks for offering to lend me your book but I am in Auckland now and
the logistics are not favourable. I have a similar one on Apache 1.3
from the library.

Trevor,

Would you advise keeping the "no known server name" VH container? Apache
documentation seems to deem it advisable.

Dale,

I probably mis-understood the Apache doc which says that you need a
NameVirtualHost entry for each VirtualHost. I suppose you only need the
one if all VHosts are on the same IP address.

I will modify my httpd.conf and post again

Woodsey
