Hi, I have a quick question on kppp.
I am using Debian 3.0 r4, and kppp won't work for a 'normal' user, only root. To fix the problem I did the following two things: 1) Add user-who-wishes-to-dial to the 'dip' group. This is the group associated with /usr/bin/kppp 2) Set SUID bit on /usr/bin/kppp (chmod +s /usr/bin/kppp) which makes kppp run as root, otherwise pppd is not permitted to write to system logs etc. It works, but Googling brings up conflicting reports on the goodness of this approach. Any comments? Andy
