After a week of downloading and compiling I have now an up to date
Gentoo-system with Java, Kde-3.4, Gnome, OOo, tetex and a lot of other
small programms. The downloading took about 60 hours over dial-up. The
system is running very well however there are two small problems:

1. When I opn konsole or xterm under kde /etc/profile is not evaluated
and I always have to execute source /etc/profile to load it.

2. Since I started using kdm-3.4 I cannot get back to kde once I go to a
console through C-M-F1 or the like. With kdm-3.3.2 I could just press
C-M-F7 but that doesn't work any more.
