I called Paradise and was assured that nothing had changed since Friday. They did a quick diagnostic to my cable modem and all looked well.
They made a few suggestions including - Reset my router - Connect a PC directly to the cable modem and see whether the source IP was still being changed (Volker also suggested this) I reset my router, and voila! I now appear to be coming from where I'm really from. I have never seen this problem before, so I am going to research what might have caused it. It's still not nice to see one's logs saying there are login attempts from oneself! Next is to see if my ssh connection from outside will stay up tomorrow. Andy
