First of all - do you require a battery? ~2/3 of all laptops are used exclusively on the mains power.
Do not get the battery repacked - it costs more than a new battery and has basically no warranty. The plus side is that the toshibas almost all use the same battery... I bought one last year sometime for ~$110 +GST from the Laptop Company in kilmore street compared to $195 for a repack of the old one from "battery mastas" Recycle the old battery through any of the transfer stations... Just drop it in at the shed before the weigh bridge. Don't just bin it. Also Molten Media take them for recycling. My dell gives about 50 minutes use on battery or 90 minutes run time with the screen off, down from the original estimated three hours. Its okay for most things as is. Also check trademe...
