I really thought there were major differences and I would be a fool to
choose one over another.
But it seems the decision of what distribution to use is idiot proof.

I just need to choose one and go with it..

I really don't think the distro is what matters for that.  They're
all going to come with basically the same stuff.

Stick with the distro you know best, and see if you can find a set of
applications that do what you need without getting in your way.

Sorry I can't recommend any apps because I only use Linux for the
back-end (Apache, PHP, Postgres, etc).
