The ISP is maxnet. I was successfully connecting prior to reinstalling linux, so I'm thinking its not an ISP issue.
I've actually already tried using wvdial but didn't have any luck. Will give it another whirl though and check through settings... Otherwise, would tomorrow's FreeNix meet be a suitable opportunity for me to bring my box and get some help? Cheers Matt
