Hi. I've just spent an interesting evening at the house of the daughter of a
friend's, trying to fix a broken MS WinXP installation, which had a perfectly
natural selection of virii and other malware. I've also, at their insistence,
installed Ubuntu, only to find that it fails the user test of being able to
connect to the Internet.

It's got a USB DSL modem, pppoa, and Ubuntu doesn't recognize that in its
basic form.

Does anyone have any experience with this problem? Any hints, ideas, files,
etc?

Thanks
