download, install and configure source code, make, make install, make
install_modules
Thanks
can't do it in 4 words, you'll have to accept 5 steps.
bugger
You can find one of the best online descriptions of configuring and
building your kernel here:-
http://www.gentoo.org/doc/en/handbook/handbook-x86.xml?part=1&chap=7
I'm a slow reader... standby...
Do we need another computing sub-basics talk about how programs - and
particulaly kernels - are built?
Not at present.... we need to make this bloody machine just run linux so
Rik gets off my ars, I'm kinda sick of comments about my user agent...
BTW - I'm back on TB/WXP because I did an update in u5.1 and it just
killed all the networking with Kernel 15.23...
However, I got given a dapper drake cd so I'll trie tht after dinner and
see how we go. :)
Thanks for all the support today guys, I haven't got much else done
thou... expect, for those who are interested (I know OT) I did have a
very interesting chat to the woman who writes the local news leter in
RHR... Telecom came to see them and said "you're not worth enough to us
to bother, you'll never get it"
Cheers Don
