If exasperation with your modem entices you to change modems rather than operating systems, here are three suggestions; o Get a new pci modem. Go to www.dse.co.nz and enter the product code XH1154 in the search box. This is the modem I use so it is guaranteed to work with Linux. o Get an external modem. These almost always work with linux. With the mass migration to ASDL their must be some cheap ones around. o If you have an ISA slot on your motherboard use an ISA modem. They can be finicky about interupts but once that is sorted they almost always work. I can supply you with an ISA modem if you want. Cheers Ross Drummond
