There are many mp3 players on TradeMe with 1 Gig Flash, 1.5 lcd, FM radio Equalization, selling for $100 - $130. Some come with a Belkin FM transmitter or six month gaurantee. I found the flash memory on the player I looked at had four usb partitions with the 1 Gig storage being the 4th partition as type fat. Simply a matter of creating a device icon on the desktop to mount the /dev/sda4 partition to /mnt/mp3player using vfat. Or in /etc/fstab /dev/sda4 /mnt/mp3player vfat noauto, user,rw 0 0 Konqueror and Grip can rip and encode the tracks from cd's to mp3 for clicking and drag straight onto the player. A generic players firmware will allow you to create and delete folders of your own preference using the Linux file manager. The seller should be able to tell you about ability to create custom folders. Itunes DRM licence is restrictive, you can only transfer a song a few times (6 iirc) between different devices. Ipods audio files are stored as AAC (advanced audio coding) developed by Dolby Labs. Most players on TradeMe support wma, mp3 and some also ogg vorbis. --- keith.
