USB distro is much quicker than virtualisation or CD distro. I think
USB 2 is as quick as a hard disk but I may be wrong there.
SLAX is cool for noobs like me, it's probably considered a toy distro
by the "real" linux crowd. There's a "mySLAX Creator" that makes
"rolling your own" CD or USB trivial. Modules can be downloaded from
the website and can be easily added to the system. I think there's
also a module that creates modules from RPMs!
That said, if you can do a full install then kubuntu is probably a
more complete solution.
